♥ Start of attachment

Started attachment at EY on 12th May 2008. I'm attached to the GST department which is a pretty small department. First week was suppose to be training week but because of the size, GST interns were assigned to a buddy who will give an one on one training. The other interns who were in the tax or audit department went for training in the training room at The Arcade before heading to the office on the third day. Apparently, only the GST interns have to do up a research paper based on our research topic( each has a different topic) and give a presentation to the GST department( consisting of only about 20 plus employees inclusive of managers) on 27th June.

So the first week was pretty slack. First 2 days, there wasn't anything much for us to do. Monica ( buddy for all GST interns) showed us the procedures for basic admin work such as photocopying and filling up of timesheet; orentiation of the office. Furthermore, we have a test on 6th June so we spent the first week reading the handbooks that the manager gave us to read. But it's still a tad too boring since the handbooks can be read finished within 2 days. We took our time and dragged the reading process. Sometimes, we'll be helping with the admin work such as filing, consolidation of tax return. The most satisfying one for me currently is the writing of the newsletter meant for clients to update them of the latest amendments of the tax regulations. Woot, it's sweet and nice. Haha. So the past fews days the interns were practically going around asking if there's anything for them to help out. Otherwise, we'll be rotting like siao in the office for 8 hours. Hopefully, for the coming week, we have more workload and can learn more from the staff. That's the whole point of internships ain't it? Learning on the job.

Went to Wt's Ar Bo Betty( Aunt) house for mother's day celebration. It's suppose to be potluck but since i can't whip up anything within such short notice( i only knew about it one day before), i shall contribute my labour. Made vegetarian kebab ( Wt's mum is vegetarian). Ok i didn't do much la. I just cut the vegetable and poke them in the sticks, add seasoning and that's it. Ar Bo Janet brought curry puffs, made green tea cake which is a tad too dry but it's nice nevertheless. Popo, Mai di, Mai luck, uncle george and family came with some other home made food too. Nice nice. Uncle oli and family came after we have finished our dinner. The Prince of Pasir Ris( their son, Brandon) is really smart and cute. He's 22 months old and he started to speak and walk. He's able to string basic words together such as "Papa, where?" instead of "Papa le?" He's also able to mimic sounds of animals by asking him what does a dog sound like and so on so forth. Fast learner. So what's after dinner? Dessert of course! Durians! haha. Ar Bo Betty bought 3 kg of kampong durians( or so the seller claims). But it really taste very smooth and smells nice. Not the very stong type of smell. Good durians huh.
Uncle oli and family. Brandon in the middle.

Three gadgets. Wow!

Around the table for dinner.

Nanny's Belated Birthday Celebration

Since we don't know what to get for him, me and Zhu en decided to treat him for dinner. So off we went to Hotpot Culture at Marina Square. It's buffet style with a wide range of cooked food ( in the buffet) to order. Word of advice: Only order the chef's recommendation. The other cooked food weren't as nice.
